Last night I went grocery shopping. Have you noticed a price increase in groceries? It seems as if everything is going up in price, all across the store. While I've been shopping the sales, it doesn't seem to be cutting the grocery bill enough.
I make almost everything from "scratch", with minimal processed foods. So I don't think couponing would work for me. Also, not too many meals are that fancy either.
Here's a chance to share your favorite books, websites and blogs for frugal grocery shopping! In a few days, I'll post all the links in a seperate post.
Thanks!

I too cook most of my food from scratch but still coupon. I figure if I can get something for free or almost free than it is worth it to have on hand. Also you can use the coupons for toilitries, etc. Some places like CVS you can even make money back just from couponing.
BTW, I have been reading your site and wanted to tell you that you are doing a great job at Spring Cleaning. I need to get motivated to do that.
Well I don't have a link for you but I totally agree.
When we left for Croatia milk was 1.99 and now it's 4.99 in many places. Also meat, it's like outrageous. Really for what they charge for beef your should be able to get a quart of milk from it every morning.
I don't know how much folks know in the states but the dollar's value is terrible right now. It was fallen to it's lowest and it's killing us who live over seas so I'm sure that's why your feeling it in the prices.
I heard gas is really high there too.
Hmm, what's a frugal gal to do? I'm looking forward to your links. I may be back if I can find a link for ya. :0)
I am trying to feed a family of seven without breaking the bank, and we recently found out that we have a dairy allergy in the house, so that's just going to make my shopping harder and more expensive.
I check www.moneysavingmom.com every day for the latest coupons, deals at lots of common stores, and ways to get tons of stuff for free or nearly free. You would be surprised to find out how much you could save by couponing, even if you make everything from scratch. The only things I buy already made are bread, and I buy a few canned goods like tomato sauce. However, there are always cleaning products, paper goods, feminine needs, baby products, and pet products that using coupons could save you a lot.
I have cut approx $40 off my grocery bill by doing the following. I only shop the outer isle of the store. Deli, fresh produce, dairy, & meat counter. I do not walk up the isles. Nothing in a box or can. For my bread I shop at the Wonderbread outlet.
I read your post, decided to mull over your question, and am back to post. :) Tammy, your actually very fortunate. There are many discount food stores in your area. You should check out Aldi, Save A Lot, and Wiseman's Corner. If you aren't inclined to bake bread (like me!) a Bread Outlet is a great place to buy higher quality bread. The cheapest place to buy TP, paper towels, cleaning supplies, toothpaste, shampoo, and the like is Walmart. Several years ago I did an in depth price comparison and WM won hands down. Hope that helps and let us know how it goes!

Not everyone is keen on this or perhaps you already do it, but making your own cleaning products is a good way to save some money. You can google for them or visit www.prairiehomemaker.com/forum. It's a message board that has a section on home making and how to make your cleansers. It also has a lot of information about couponing, homesteading, crafting, etc.
Hope this helps. The other information already given is great too!
