~Not really a recipe YOU will want to follow!~

My kitchen and I are generally on civil terms, though not necessarily friendly terms (especially when it comes to the oven!) People tell me that I'm a good cook, but I think that is because I actually cook - so few people take time in the kitchen these days! But I'm not always so great of a cook! Take dinner a few nights ago...here's the "recipe" I followed:

***Brown some ground turkey with onions and garlic.
***Retire to living room to allow meat to finish cooking.
***Forget about the meat for a while.
***Suddenly remember meat, and rush into the kitchen.
***Just because it is stuck to the bottom of the pan, does not mean it is "burnt". We cooks call it "caramelized". Yeah, that's right. It is still perfectly edible.
***Dump in contents of spaghetti sauce from a jar in the fridge. Stir well.
***Discover mold growing on the sides of the jar.
***Shriek and cry! Utter despair. It is already 7 p.m.!
***Run out to Taco Bell. It tastes better than spaghetti anyhow!

I got a good chuckle out of your recipe, Tammy! I can't tell you how many times I've put something on the stove, gone into another room (usually where the computer is) for "just a minute" only to find my meal slightly - or not so slightly - burnt. Beth has caught on to me, so I have to be more vigilant now! ;) Just know you're not alone.

And mold in the jar? Bless your heart! Not a good thing.

Oh, that is so funny! Thanks for sharing. I'm sorry about your dinner, but hey, Taco Bell is a nice treat once in awhile!

There are so many times I have done that. I of course will never forget after cutting cherries into quarters for a cake and then falling asleep while it baked then burnt. That green in a jar has messed a few of my meals. Surprise meals out are always nice.

ha, ha...I know the green happened to us to that long ago...oops...

That's funny. I think we've all had a moment like that at one time or another. Probably some of us more than others.

I am so glad you saw the mold before you ate it! I know I've messed up plenty of times. Once I was cooking spaghetti and before I could get it all pushed under the water, the tips burnt from the gas fire. I had to pick off all the burnt tips from each spaghetti.

Yup. I was making maple frosting for a delicious cake that was cooling, and when I poured out the 100% pure maple syrup, white fuzzy things poured out with it into my frosting. Yuck. And the poor cake had to settle for store bought frosting.

Big grins here!
I tried a new style of Zaterans rice mix called smothered chicken...it was n-asty!
Hubby said lets go to the Chinese Buffet and I said O-Kay!!!
I hated to have wasted that good chicken meat so just be warned about this...it had way too much beef boulion and it was over salted...shew!!

Hope you enjoyed your tacos!☺

I'm enjoying all the comments! It is nice to know I'm not the only cook with disasterous moments!

LOL at "caramelized" ~ I've tried to convince my husband that the rock hard bits of hamburger in his spaghetti sauce are just "well done." Not being a good cook like us, he just didn't get it!
