~Fruit Cake?~

Around the Christmas season, jokes abound about fruit cake. However, people keep making it, so some people must like it!

I think of it as an "old fashioned" Christmas tradition. It appears on the buffet at my grandma's house, cut in bite-size pieces, every Christmas. I usually take a piece or two. It is ok, but not my favorite.

So...
...do you like it?
...do you make it?

Have a great day!

I don't like it and I don't make it.

Some are better than others, but it isn't my favorite. However, seeing fruitcakes brings back pleasant memories for me. My grandpa absolutely loved them! Every year I would buy him one for Christmas. It was his favorite present. He was the only person I ever knew who really, really liked getting them. Now I'm an adult and can bake. It makes me wish he was still here so I could make one for him. I know he'd love it.

I have to admit that I have never had fruitcake. It was not something that was passed around my cirle of friends, and my mom never made it. I'm sorry that I'm not more help.

Regular fruitcake - not a big fan.

Now Icebox Fruitcake ~ Yum-oh! Even my kids will gobble this up. It's not really 'true' fruitcake ... it's more like a whole lot of chopped nuts and some fruit held together by a bit of marshmallow-milky goodness. And yes ~ I have one chilling in the fridge right now ... my mom's recipe. ;o)

I liked the fruitcake that my Grandma made, but I have never made one. Grandma made a really good one, and my dad loves it!

Every time I have tried it - I have not liked it! I would actually think of you as brave for taking a small piece! :0

Trust you have a wonderful Christmas,

Blech! I *do not* like fruit cake! My mom used to make it with an old family recipe (and mincemeat pie) and I just could not stomach it (or the pie).

May you have a blessed Christmas! : )

I do not like it. I do not make it. However, my mother in law and my daddy love it. I was watching a special on fruit cake on a tv morning news show a long time ago and they were talking about how long you can keep a fruit cake frozen without it going bad. This man had one in his freezer for YEARS and in his words, "...like wine, it only gets better with age." My thought was "eww." But there are those who do like it and eat it. More power to 'em.
