I saw this tutorial and had to make one for myself! So I rushed down to the basement, grabbed a used lid, and went to work with my husband's drill.
The finished result:
This particular tutorial suggests covering the lid with decorative paper. In my house that wouldn't last long. Maybe I'm a messy handwasher? At any rate I'd have water splashed all over it the first time I washed my hands!
I highly, highly recommend clamping your lid onto a scrap of wood before drilling. I was practicing on a different lid, and it was spinning around. I reached down to stop it from spinning, and the spinning edge cut my finger. Thankfully it wasn't a deep, but it could have been much worse.
I already had the lid, soap pump, and jar. Fun, free project!

Cute, Tammy! Hope your finger is ok!!
I love that!! I've been wanting to make one! (Hmm... I wonder if Mod Podge would be a good solution to helping paper stay nice on top?)
I've been wanting to try this since I saw it on Pinterest! It's good to know it really works!
I love crafts like these! Great job :)
Jenn, my finger is fine now! All healed!
Charity, I'm not sure if Mod Podge makes things waterproof or not. I've never used it! But you could give it a try!
SOOOO cute!
