~Itty Bitty Toddler Dress~

After making the Itty Bitty Baby Dress for my coming niece, I was itching to make another one...only bigger! I used the Itty Bitty Baby Dress Enlargement pattern found here. It is enlarged to 3T and I would say that's accurate. My daughter is still in 2T, so I'm guessing this dress will fit her for a while...maybe even next summer! While it is large on her, it is still perfectly wearable, and she wore it to church last Sunday.

No outfit is complete without bloomers!

The little tag...I machine embroidered a design down twill tape. I *heart* my new machine. :D

It's so cute, Tammy! Isn't having a new machine great? I really love sewing now that it's not such a chore to fight the machine!

Yes! I love my new-to-me machine! Fighting against a machine really does take away from the enjoyment of sewing!

I just can't get over the utter cuteness of this dress!

That is adorable! I was wondering if after buying the fabric, notions, etc. is sewing less expensive than buying brand new? I see some darling baby/toddler clothes in Kohls and they're often on sale and then with the extra discount it seems you can't sew for that cheap! Not to mention the thrift stores. Or is it that you just love to sew and want to create your own fashions? Or can't find what you want in the stores?

Sewing can be way more expensive than buying brand new, if you buy designer patterns and fabric. I purchased this fabric at Jo-Ann's and had coupons for both pieces. I think everything all together (fabric, piping, thread) ended up being around $14. Lately a lot of my sewing projects have been way more inexpensive than that. For me a lot of the reason behind my sewing projects is desire to sew. :) However, I just bought two dresses for my daughter at a thrift shop for $1.99 each. So I do a little of all three: sewing, purchasing from clearance, and thrift/yard sales.
