~Ottobre Sewing~

I'm pleased to show you my first outfit using Ottobre patterns!

Both are from the 3/2009 issue, and I made them in size 68. They are a bit big on The Baby, but that's ok. She's growing constantly! :-)

The Toffee Tunic:

and Hennina Pants:

The frill on the pant leg:

I bought the fabric from a local store. I was disappointed to see that their selection of fabric has dwindled. I guess the economy is hitting them too. I found the fabric for the top right away, but they didn't have any coordinating prints for it. I looked and looked and finally found a green that matched perfectly. I was so pleased! It was from a Christmas line of fabric, but it doesn't really look Christmasy to me!

I had quite an adventure tracing the pattern, and figuring out where to add seam allowances and where to not add seam allowances. I cut the front pant legs out only to realize that I hadn't added the seam allowance along the waist. Thankfully, I had enough fabric to cut it out again!

I'm looking forward to using more patterns from my Ottobre issues!

How cute! I also made my first Ottobre item this last week from the same issue the 3 way dress for Madison. It came out really cute.

Great job! I love the fabric too.

This is SO cute, Tammy! I've glanced at Ottobre stuff, but it scares me. You have done a great job!

Tammy, you did a GREAT job! I love that tunic top!!!!

I've looked at some of the Ottobre stuff before, but haven't ever made it. The clothes you made are so cute.

Do you think the patterns are worth the cost of the subscription?

The outfit is adorable! You'd better watch out, though--you'll get hooked on Ottobre. :)

Thank you. :-)

Jennifer, your outfit turned out really cute!

Melody, the value of the subscription depends on how much sewing you will do. If you will be sewing a lot, then, yes, it is worth it. The patterns are so unique and since you have boys and now a little girl on the way, you would have more use from your subscription than I do currently. I will be keeping my magazines around so I can make use of the patterns for bigger girls. I used birthday money for my subscription - it was definitely a "splurge" for me!

Ruth, I think I'm hooked already! :-)

Tammy, this is adorable. I love how to paired the bright green with the Park Slope print. It's really fun.

I'm thinking I need to get into ottobre...

Thanks, Tammy! Right now I'm wondering how much sewing time I'll actually have once Little Miss arrives. :O) Guess we'll see - and maybe I'll suggest the subscription as a gift idea this Christmas. Thanks again!
