~Happy Valentines Day!~

Since Valentines falls on a Wednesday this year, Kevin took me out for dinner last night. We had a very nice dinner together and then we came home and watched The Shop Around the Corner.

And then we went out (yes, "out" as in "outside"...brrrrrr), and found a pond that has frozen over. And we walked out to the middle! It is something we've wanted to do since moving to Michigan, but last year we didn't get a prolonged deep freeze like we've gotten this year. So now we can say...we've walked on water! LOL

Happy Valentine's Day Tammy! Glad you and your hubby had fun celebrating. I think you are *very* brave to walk out in the middle of that pond. I don't know if I could do it! LOL : )

I recently saw the movie that 'Shop Around The Corner' was based on. I can't remember the name of it but it starred Judy Garland. It was cute too. (o:

Julieann, I wasn't exactly scared, but I was a little nervous! The ice was quite solid though!

Mrs. B, I've seen the movie that starred Judy Garland too! But The Shop Around the Corner actually came before that movie. There's also a movie featuring Doris Day that was a spin-off of The Shop Around the Corner, and then of course there is You've Got Mail. But my favorite one is The Shop Around the Corner!

Happy Valentine's Day to you and your hubby. I am glad you had a nice evening out. Great choice of a movie - it is a classic.

Now that you have tried walking on a frozen pond, you can try one of my favorites: Ice skating on a frozen pond!

Happy Valentine's Day, Tammy.

Was walking on water one of your 1001 things? Just think, you could have crossed another one off! LOL!

Glad you had a fun time with your hubby. It's after 9 and my husband still isn't home from working the power outage from the ice storm. He may be home before midnight, but I'd say it won't be our most memorable Valentine's Day!

Tammy,

Oh! I thought the Judy Garland one came first. I guess I thought that because the setting was older, more like the 1800's or early 1900's. But I believe you because I didn't know for sure. Thanks for letting me know! (o:

I'm glad you had a nice time out. Take it from us life long Michiganders that the ice gets way less exciting the longer you've been here :) But our springs here cannot be beat!

Up at Houghten Lake (right smack dab in the middle of the mitten) they have a huge festival for 2 weeks in January called Tip up Town. It is all held right out on the huge frozen over lake. They have ice sculptures, beauty contest, elect a mayor of Tip up Town, snowmobile races and all things ice and snow related.

If you like the novelty of winter after living in California-- you might like to try it:)

Take Care,

Trixie
