When I was little, and my mom made anything with potatoes, I always begged to eat a few pieces. I absolutely loved them! My mom would give me a few pieces to make me happy, and I would go on my merry way.
I was thinking about this as I cut my potatoes for tonight's dinner. I always eat a few pieces as I'm cutting them. They are so good and crunchy!
I think raw potatoes is something that is an acquired taste. I don't know how I got started eating raw potatoes, because I can't remember ever seeing my mom eat a piece of raw potato. I remember hearing my pastor say that he liked raw potatoes with salt. So after that, I had to try them with salt. If I remember correctly, I had to sneak that one, because we weren't supposed to eat salt. LOL

I tried a raw potatoe once because I had heard that it tasted like an apple. Yuck. I havent' tried it since.
Hahaha...no it doesn't taste like an apple! :-)
I never did like raw potatoes. That's almost the only way that I WON'T eat them though. LOL
But, I remember my daddy always sneaking a few pieces when we would be peeling them.
you know...I just posted a useless fact about that eating apples, potatoes, and an onion all have the same taste...if you pinch your nose and try it. Then I read this. Too funny! I've had raw potatoes. I can't remember one way or the other about them. What I'm curious about now...why couldn't you have salt?
Rebecca--my parents were (are) very health conscious, and salt isn't healthy for you. We rarely, rarely even had a salt shaker on the table. Usually just for company. Therefore, I had to sneak it. :)
I love raw potatoes too! LOL I haven't had any in a long time, because I have to limit potatoes quite a bit with diabetes. But I used to always eat some when my mother was cooking potatoes. I didn't know anyone else liked them!
I love Raw potatoes too! And yes I almost always eat a few while cutting them up.! I have never thought about apples and potatoes..OR onions tasteing the same..but I love all 3! :)
I can't imagine eating raw potatoe, but I like oh... how to SPELL it... jickima? (The 'j' is pronounced as an h, from the Spanish) It is similar, but sweeter and with a crip crunch!
I love jicama's. I grew up eating them. I especially like them with limon and salt or chili pepper powder.
You raw potato lovers would really like the raw casava that they eat here in Niger. Not all casava can be eaten raw.
