~Sunshine in My Soul~

There is sunshine in my soul today,
More glorious and bright
Than glows in any earthly sky,
For Jesus is my Light.

There is music in my soul today,
A carol to my King,
And Jesus, listening, can hear
The songs I cannot sing.

There is springtime in my soul today,
For, when the Lord is near,
The dove of peace sings in my heart,
The flowers of grace appear.

There is gladness in my soul today,
And hope and praise and love,
For blessings which He gives me now,
For joys “laid up” above.

Refrain:
O there’s sunshine, blessed sunshine,
When the peaceful, happy moments roll;
When Jesus shows His smiling face,
There is sunshine in the soul.

I normally don't post hymns/poetry but today was such a gloriously sunshiny day that I thought of this hymn. I'm glad that though the clouds may obscure the sunshine thorugh much of the winter, I can have sunshine in my soul year round!

This is one of my favorite hymns. It's just so... well... perky! Whenever I think of it, it almost always brings a smile to my face. Thanks for posting it (even though it is NOT a sunshiney day for us here!) and helping to start my day with a smile and a song in my heart. :)

I love this song! I couldn't listen because my sleeping husband might object, but I have a tape of Burl Ives singing hymns and I love the joyful way he sang this one.

Not sunshiny here either! We're on a trip up to Northern California, and I think they might all wash away before we get back!

I sing this everyday with Elizabeth (okay, well, I only sing it TO her for now, but she'll have it memorized soon!!!). I love it. It's such a happy song and immediately gets my mind off myself and focuses on the Throne of Grace!!!
