~Finished Floor~

The picture hardly does the floor justice. Every time I see the floor, I am just so pleased with how it turned out!

The beauty of these floors was absolutely hidden underneath a bad, bad sanding job and a thick, ugly coat of varnish! I had no idea how gorgeous these floors could be!

As a point of contrast, following is a picture that I took previously this year. It shows the condition of the floor before we refinished it.

That flooring is eerily similar to the wood flooring in my first house. We bought it with red shag carpet and pink walls. Noticed the carpet was only tacked down around the edges, pulled it up, and there was the original hardwood flooring! Cleaning, sanding, staining, varnishing was a huge job but it was *so* gorgeous.

Enjoy your beautiful "new" floor!

Beautiful floor-beyond my ability to do. I would not want to put too much furniture in the rooms and cover the floor. Great job.

That looks just beautiful! Now you're gonna get some nice area rugs...but not too big! Can't cover up that floor! And put felt pads on the feet of all your furniture!

Tammy,

Your floors look absolutely gorgeous! The color is so warm and rich. I always think it is amazing how just a coat of paint or changing flooring can change a whole room. I cannot wait to see the finished rooms with the furniture back!

I am curious...what color stain did you use on the floor? I really like it!

wow, that made such a big difference! we have wood floors like that, but I really want to get carpeting instead of refinishing it right now. our floors are slippery, and i can't wait to carpet them.

Thank you, thank you, for all your comments! I have the best blog readers ever. =)

We used a clear varnish for the floors. The wood is oak, and the varnish brought out its natural beauty.

Your floors are just gorgeous! We are currently living in a home with floors just like what yours are now. I love it! I will go kicking and screaming if we move into a home with carpet.
