Finished at last!

Tonight I finished my Jaywalker Socks! It seems as though every blogging knitter has made this pattern! It wasn't terribly hard, but it did present it's challenges! The first challenge was the thin sock yarn. Since I'm used to crocheting and tatting with thin thread, it wasn't too difficult. I started the first sock at least four or five times, and finally got it underway. I didn't have any problems with my second sock until I got to the toe. I finished it, tried it on, and found out it was about 1/2 inch to short!

As you can see in the picture, they are not identically striped. The yarn that I used did not lend itself to making two identical socks. However, I've seen many, many stripey socks online, and quite a few of them do not match perfectly! I'm just glad that the striping is very subtle. (The flash brings out the lighter colors.)

It's a good thing I finished them, now that we're having such freezing weather. *Grin* It feels good to get projects finished, no matter if I'll be wearing them right away or not!

Hey Sis....I love those!!! You did a great job! So what if the stripes don't match and if the one is shorter than the other. Who would know unless you told them...I sure didn't! But then I'm not very observant to start with. And if I had noticed I wouldn't have said anything about it. I think you did great!!!

My socks are actually the same height. =) I did consider having my husband take another picture, so that both sooks would look even, but he was already out of the room.

WOW!! I admire anyone who can knit socks. That's my goal in knitting, is to someday knit socks and to knit an adult sweater that ACTUALLY fits someone!

Tammy I haven't knit this pattern! I do have some new sock yarn though! What size needle did you use? Did the pattern come from Knitty?

Cindi, I used the pattern that I linked to (Jaywalker Socks), size 2 needles, TrekkerXXL yarn.

Those are neat! Can you crochet socks? I can crochet thanks to learning from my late Grandma & late Aunt Hattie. However Grandma tried to show me how to knit & I never could figure it out lol. You knitters are so lucky you have been able to master knitting... :)

Cheryl, yes, there are crochet patterns for socks. I've seen a book, and some patterns in craft stores. Crocheted socks wouldn't have the same stretch as knitted socks, but it can still be done! =)
